Established in 1966 in Ankara as the first and pioneering company of NUROL Group of Companies, NUROL Construction Co. has accomplished many distinguished projects domestically and since 80’s abroad.

The international activities which started in the oil producing countries of Arabian Peninsula, particularly the Saudi Arabia, have then extended to Russian Federation and CIS countries established after the Soviet Union in the 90’s. With the 2000’s once more the focus for the international activities became the Middle East and the Gulf Countries together with the addition of North Africa to the activity range. During this period domestic activities have also progressed considerably and many distinguished projects within the framework of major industrial complexes and infrastructural investments of Turkey have been added to references.

As of the year 2009, the activity field of NUROL Construction Co., the admiral ship of NUROL Holding Group of Companies formed of more than 40 affiliate and joint venture companies having activities in five main fields namely Construction and Trade; Energy; Machinery and Defense; Banking and Finance; Tourism, Hotel and Commercial Complex Management is dispersed over thirteen countries over a large scale geography, from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Algeria, Qatar to Georgia, Poland, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, lraq and Afghanistan.

NUROL Construction Co. is included in both the World’s Biggest International Contractors and World’s Biggest Global Contractors Lists of Mc Graw Hill’s (USA) “Engineering News Record” (ENR.com) and its work fields as per the reference projects portfolio includes infrastructure projects (highways, motorways, railway and metro systems, tunnels, gas/oil pipelines and auxiliary facilities, irrigation and drainage systems, dams and hydroelectric power plants, potable water and sewage networks, urban/industrial treatment plants and solid wastes systems), turnkey manufacturing facilities, industrial districts, business and commercial centre projects, luxurious/ mass housing and social centre projects, hotels, resorts and tourism facility projects.

The trend reached as a result of this successful history has been progressed in 2009 too.

Starting with 2000’s the activities abroad form the majority of total work volume and as it was before, in 2009 UAE has been the highest work volume country for the international activities.

In Abu Dhabi, vvorks under the Khalidiya Palace Rotana Hotel and Residences Project have been carried out as per the schedule so that the project is to be completed as of the spring of 2010 as planned.

The first contract including 13 sea bridge crossings and 4 km. long artificial canal structure of our three contracts under the Shams Abu Dhabi Bridges and Canal Structures Project of 16 bridges, artificial canals, water intake structures, pumping stations and auxiliary structures, was completed in 2009. The other two contracts are scheduled to be completed in 2010.

Again in Abu Dhabi, IP44 and Sea Palace Intersections Project including two consecutive intersection structures formed of tunnel and bridge crossings, is progressing and to be brought to the completion in 2010.

n Dubai, Jumeirah Village North Infrastructure Works Project including all types of infrastructure works over an area of 400 ha. where 2.760 villas will be constructed have continued to completion within client’s schedule.

Furthermore, works in Jumeirah Village Triangle Zone 1, including 856 villas have been carried out.

In parallel to the strategy of increasing the project portfolio in UAE, business development and tendering activities are progressing as well. Most recently Bab Al Qasr Hotel and Multi Purpose Complex Project has been undertaken as a result of the tender awarded in November 2009. Within the scope of 270 million US Dollar valued project, a 32 floored complex formed of hotel, office and residence sections will be realized. The total closed area will reach up to 155.000 m2 together with the 5 podium floors of social facilities and 4 underground floors.

In Algeria, as the first point of activity of NUROL Construction Co. in North Africa, activities are continued through the variation orders under the Douera Dam Project, business development activities have also reached a considerable level in order to add new projects in Algeria.

Libya, another NUROL Construction Co. activity area gaining weight in recent years, works under the scope of Algarabolli – Misuratah Highway including the rehabilitation works of 160 km. long dual highway is continued.

Again in Libya, the first two contracts of our works under Al Fateh University in Tripoli namely Economics and Law Faculty Buildings and Physical Education Faculty Building are being carried out to completion as of summer 2010. Again in Al Fateh University, our contract of Campus B Infrastructure Works will reach realization stage in 2010 after the completion of engineering design works.

On the other hand, business development activities in Libya have developed significantly too. The tender submitted through our joint venture with a local company, is approved by the client for the urban infrastructure works in Khoms and Zliten cities. Our projects valued over 600 million US Dollars are foresighted to be brought to realization in the spring of 2010.

In Georgia realization of Sheraton Batumi Hotel, which is a 100% NUROL Group investment is brought to completion as of spring 2010. The hotel will have 220 rooms arıd social units.

Moreover, the works for bringing Namakhvani HEPP Project, which is to be realized as a joint investment of NUROL Energy Co. under builtoperate basis contract, and for which a Memorandum of Understanding is signed with Georgian Government on December 2009, are now in progress for reaching realization stage in 2011. The project will be formed of three cascade dam structures with hydroelectric power plants and has an approximate value of 1 billion USD.

Despite the overseas activities are the major part of total work volume, the business development activities for expanding the current overseas activity range have also carried out extensively. For re-adding Saudi Arabia within our activity range, our affiliate established in Riyadh has been activated and besides, our activities in North lraq have been accelerated through our branch office in Erbil.

In addition to our overseas activities, in 2009 our projects in Turkey have also progressed considerably.

The works within the scope of MARMARAY Bosphorus Immersed Tube Tunnel For Metro Project have been continued. In the project which is realized by our Turkish-Japanese Joint Venture, with high sensitivity due to the historical and archeological characteristics of the project site all immersed tube units (under sea) have been placed and the bored tunnel (land section) works are in progress.

The works for the llısu Dam and HEPP Project has also reached realization through the auxiliary structures and approach roads, for which the main body works are foresighted to begin in 2010. The project, undertaken by the international consortium under the leadership of NUROL Construction Co., includes the second largest dam of Turkey with a dam body volume of 45 million m3 and a 1.200 MW capacity power plant which will produce 3.83 GWH power annually.

Ankara-Pozantı Motorway, Kemerhisar-Eminlik Section, carried out by the joint venture where NUROL Construction Co. is leader and which is financed through the foreign loans brought by the contractors, is reaching to completion as of 2010.

Another domestic project in progress is the Ceyhan HEPP Project, which is a joint investment of NUROL Energy Co. with a share rate of 50%. The project, with a power capacity of 63 MW, is scheduled to start operation as of June 2010.

In addition to above, the tender submitted by the international joint venture where NUROL Construction Co. is one of the shareholders, for the Gebze-Izmir Motorway (Izmit Bay Suspension Bridge Crossing Included) Built-Operate-Transfer Model is announced as the best tender by the Client in June 2009. The initial approval procedures have been completed and the final governmental (Higher Invesment Board) procedures as per the relevant laws are in progress as of the end of December 2009. The project which will include 421 km. Iong motorway and the second longest suspension bridge worldwide (mid-span length will be 1.7 km. and total bridge length is 3.0 km), is foreseighted to reach contract signing phase in 2010.
